Make the plum sauce. Get ribs from Jacques or whoever you know 😀 Rub the ribs with salt, pepper, 5 spice powder, then roast in a 425 F oven for 30 minutes. Lower the temperature to 325 F and continue to roast for an hour. Baste the ribs all over with the plum sauce, then return the oven to 425 F and roast for 15 minutes, baste, then roast for another 15 minutes.
That’s weird, I was just daydreaming about roasting a whole pig and making a Chinese style sauce, which I suppose in my head would have been plum 😉
Good idea. I’ll come 🙂
Simple 😉 – yet more good plum sauce usage.
Yum! Sounds great! But what goes into the “5 spice powder”?
Hi Chris. You buy it already mixed in a spice bottle at a regular supermarket or an Asian grocery store. Probably has cloves, cinnamon, star anise, fennel, chilli
Oh, I see! I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
Delicious recipe! 🙂

Oh you are cruel! One of my top 5 favorite dishes!
The plum sauce was excellent with the ribs. I wish it would stop raining so I can use the grill.
Delicious.

Thank you Virginia.
I have a feeling everything you make ends up this gorgeous. I have been reading you for about a year now and nothing is short of salivatory. Kudos to your simple elegance. It’s something that can’t be taught.
Thank you. How kind!
I just bought spare ribs to grill this weekend. Plum sauce sounds great.
Have fun!
Lovely. We just had Mexican-style ribs. Although we eat a lot of things Mexican-style as my husband is Mexican. He can really cook, bless the man. I’ll have to show him this recipe 😛
I’d like to see his recipes 🙂
