Everything’s good. We extricated Jade from the insidious French child protection system that believes that a minor who leaves an affluent, non-abusive home to live with street bums has the capacity to make wise decisions. We prayed at Notre Dame in Strasbourg the Sunday before Jade’s Monday custody hearing and it must have worked because God apparently whispered in the child protection judge’s ear, “Hello!? What ARE you thinking?!” But in French, of course. Jade has gone to the U.S. with her father to a secure school that will help her with her adolescent problems and to continue her education. I am in Sens, in order to recover my sanity and sense of humor 🙂
I ate this in Strasbourg. It was okay. I wanted scrambled eggs but the cook, a specialist, only knew one way to make eggs; fried.
It’s always great to hear/read good news! Good luck with the sanity and humour recuperation 😉
Thank you Reg.
Thanks Reg. I’m working on it.
Best of luck Rosemary. I hope all works well for you and particularly for Jade.
Thank you Conor. I think things are going well for the whole family.
I can’t even begin to imagine the hell you’ve been through. So glad that things are getting back on track and am pleased that you are going to be able to start to recover that sanity. We are happy to have you back 🙂
Thank you Chica 🙂
Good to have you back and that Jade is safe and going to get the support she needs. Hope it works out well for your family, in time.
Thank you Food. We believe it will.
Welcome back and it’s good to hear that things are sorting themselves out 🙂
If it wasn’t for my husband’s unsubtle yet timely elbow in the side, when the judge, probably feeling a little spacy from his lunchtime wine, said “well you know she’s almost 17”, I might have ruined the whole thing by telling him that even in God cursed France the age of majority is 18! Whew! Thanks honey 😀
Glad to have you back Rosemary and also glad Jade is safe and in good hands. My heart and prayers were with you through this, I am so glad it’s over for you and your family.
Thank you Spoon for your prayers.
Good to hear from you again and know all is better now. What a nightmare you it’s have experienced.
Thinking of you. Those are some wild eggs
Thank you Ruth. The cook didn’t care.
So pleased to see a sensible outcome Rosemary- a massive relief all round I’d imagine. I look forward to seeing some more great dishes.
Thank you Phil. Glad to be back to some normalcy.
So relieved she is somewhere safe … and glad you are back at blogging, I have missed you!
Thank you Laura. My heart and mind just wasn’t there for my blog. Now it is!
Welcome back!
Thank you!
Welcome back, so happy to hear life is back on track. Wishing you all healing, stability and laughter!
Thank you Nancy. My laughter sounds a little crazy now but it’s just the craziness of relief 🙂
I think your sense of humour is returning already! Well done.. c
Thank you c.
So happy to see you back, and just as happy to hear that everything is on the upswing with Jade. I do hope that time in the U.S. will be good for her and maybe give perspective of some sort, in a positive way, of course! You sound very light, so like Cecilia, I think your sense of humor is quite nicely intact. I’m so glad this ordeal has had such a great resolution. That really is a rather unappetizing looking plate, BTW. 🙂
Thank you bits. The cook was rather unappetizing looking 😀
I hope that Jade will open up and talk about what pushed her to take such a rash decision, and that her return will ensure happiness and serenity to you all.
Thank you Multi.

Rosemary, I am so relieved to hear you have Jade back and she’s on her way to good health. What a lucky young lady Jade is; to have you as a Mom. She’ll realize this good fortune someday in the future. Praying peace (and return of sanity) to you!! Hugs, Karista
Thank you very much Karista.
Rosemary, relieved to hear that. Saludos desde México,
Jon
Thank you Jon.
Welcome back!!! Good luck to you and Jade.

Thank you Khoa.
Jade will need your love & patience now more then ever. My daughter commented that she thought I was dumber then dirt when she was 16 but was amazed at how smart I’d gotten by the time she was 23. I know Jade will feel the same way in time.
I think so too Ellen, but 23 is 7 years away 😀
Pocket email. Apologies

Rosemary,
I’m so thankful to hear that Jade is safe and hopefully she can realize what real life is all about. I don’t know you or any details but I sure said many prayers for you and Jade; so many times I couldn’t imagine how you could get through the day ~ not knowing ~ dreading the worst ~ so much deep stress. I’m a friend of Celi and one day I read in her blog that Jade had not returned home. So I hope you can relax a bit now and enjoy some delicious French cuisine, some delicious German cuisine for me! I love Europe and have visited there many times. I still have many relatives in central Germany, we were there last spring and plan to visit again this fall after we travel a few weeks in Poland. You mentioned Stuttgart ~ one of the cousins lives in Echterdingen and another in Aalen. I never get tired of Germany ~ Europe!!
I always enjoy seeing what cuisine we are going to enjoy with you!! Take care and I hope the future holds well for Jade and all involved.
Carol from central Illinois
Thank you for your good wishes Carol. Jade is safe and where she should be in order to help her work through her adolescence.
Glad to hear you’re back on track. Good luck with getting your smile on!
Thank you food. It’s there!
🙂
Thanks for the update Rosemary- really glad to hear things are working out. we live in the middle of nowhere in the midwest and I spend my days at a horse barn that always needs tons of workers (most of whom are teenage girls who wouldn’t think of cleaning their rooms but willingly clean stall after stall). If you need somewhere to send her for the summer where she is sure to stay out of trouble this is the place!!
That’s a nice invitation Trish! But I think Jade would see it as slavery 😀 I’ll mention it to her. But don’t reserve a bed yet 😀
Rosemary, I am so glad to read she is back! I was thinking about you just this morning, missing your posts and knowing you must miss the peace of mind that allowed such a luxury. I will continue sending you and Jade good vibes for healing and strength.
Thank you Anna. We will need those vibes and the strength.
Happy to have you back, Rosemary! What a relief it must be to have Jade back safe and sound. You must be tremendously relieved.
Thank you Daisy. You don’t know the half!
I’m know that it will take time for your family to return to the life you once had but each day will be better for each of you, I’m sure. Your strength got you through the worst thing I can imagine, your sanity and sense of humor will return in short time.
Thank you Karen. She was found in the nick of time. I was going downhill, but not anymore.
Whew!! just want to get thorough the teens in one piece. It gets better when they go off to university!
Micki, from our experience with our son, it’s never quite better but it’s always good to know where they are 🙂
So glad she’s safe! I worried for her and sent a lot of prayers. Hope the new school works.
Thank you Leigh.
Man, I wouldn’t know what to do first. Crush her with hugs, string her up by her toes, or both. I hope she starts seeing clearly soon and stays on the right path. It may not hit her until she has kids what a monumental detour this was. Thank goodness she is safe and you have her back. She is incredibly lucky to be safe and to have you guys as well.
Stringing her up by the toes shows promise 🙂
It’s scary that despite seemingly doing everything right life still throws you this curve ball. And parenting does not come with a manual. Like you, we try to provide a safe environment, give the kids experiences, share with them, have a happy household, love them to pieces and I’m left wondering this week if that will be enough? Like I’ve said it’s the best job but the hardest job you’ll ever have.
So glad to hear everything’s going to be OK.
Thank you Greg.
