So here we are in the Hotel Wayne in Honesdale, about 5 minutes from our new house. We’ve driven past the house 3 times but can’t go in until the closing at 1 o’clock tomorrow. My first impression; beautiful house, needs some work.
The Hotel Wayne was built in 1890 and they’ve lured an imaginative, innovative chef to the boondocks of Pennsylvania, giving the hotel a reason to live and providing a sophisticated dining venue for the locals and visitors.
I mean, as an appetizer, the fried , panko coated, very fresh green beans were a revelation to our jaded, “we live in France”, Jamie Oliver groupie palates. Perfectly spicy!
The penne with sun dried tomato, broccoli and shrimp was more than “correct”, served in a creamy, cheesy sauce. Of course, I couldn’t resist the horseradish crusted, wild salmon with spinach and a sauté of potatoes. Bravo!
The Eagle has Landed – hoorah!
Have I missed something – are you moving back to the States? Can’t wait to hear about the house.
Not at all. We’re buying a house in the U.S. but living in France and Germany mostly.
Ah I seeeeee – good luck with the house purchase – very exciting!
That sounds more like real food! Do post some pictures of the house (and kitchen) when you get the keys 😉
Welcome to the states!
thank you!
Wait, you’re above the Mason-Dixon and they’re frying beans? Goodness. Looks good though!
Yes Greg but it’s frying in a “good” way.
That is way better than lunch at the Holiday Inn. Needs a little work…now I have heard that before. Good luck with the closing today!
Thank you Karen.
I can’t wait to see pics of your house.. and I love houses that need work! The transformation can be so fun!
All of our houses have needed work 😉
Our last one didn’t.. but I made sure, in the end, that it did;)
Good luck in your new home. Good to hear you’ll still be bringing us food stories from France…
Everything looks so good!
