Sens, France is a small town of 40,000 people(if you count the outlying areas) in the Burgundy region of France. The town inhabitants “go down” with the sun or, at least, to their homes for a little TV and a light dinner. But sometimes there’s live music until 10:00 p.m. on weekends. Absolutely no exaggeration in this town; if you want to see in the dawn, better go to Paris.
This Saturday night Le Patio, a sandwich and salad sports bar http://atomic-temporary-17826715.wpcomstaging.com/2011/10/26/eating-around-le-patio/ treated us to a free concert with Vitaly Makukin, master musician of the guitar technique of tapping http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapping. No one in our group had ever heard of this technique, but now that we have, we want MORE! Thank you Vitaly! Thank you Le Patio! And thank you No Man No Stress for the hot and tasty Ukrainian borsht!
Unfortunately, we had to curtail our enjoyment of Vitaly in order to make it to the Tete de Veau to see their Saturday night entertainment before the 10 o’clock deadline. We had eaten at this restaurant that specializes in calf’s head several times before I started the blog. Jade and I will have to ease on by for a blog lunch now that the weather is clement.
When we arrived, too late to get the name of the band or their origins, it was “le jazz hot” with a reggae bent. Our aging hippies were there, as were the young, middle aged and those like us of a “certain age”. I love street venues like this, especially when our street is just a block away 🙂 Smokin’!
Wow… that looks like it was a fun night! Calf’s Head? I’m wondering what that dish is??
It’s calf’s head boiled with onion, garlic and the odd spice. Good but not elegant 🙂
Love, love, love your shots, those ghosts and blurs are music in themselves.. c
Thank you c.
It sounds like you had a great time, I really like live music in bars……..:)
We did. I’m going to have to keep my eyes and ears open for more of these.
